<~Song Of The Week~>

This is the 1st entry in my new "Song Of The Week" series and I'll be critiquing new tracks that I've heard and how I feel about it. By me working in radio, I believe I have some type of expertise in this area...

I have 2 songs this week and the 1st is "Sweet Life" by Frank Ocean from his debut album "channelORANGE". "Sweet Life" describes the struggles or lack thereof of a fortunate individual. The hook is extremely catchy and the song is easily addictive. Frank Ocean is an awesome artist and is making R&B look easy!! My favorite lyric is:

"You've had a landscaper and a housekeeper, since you were born.. the sunshine always kept you warm. So why see the world, when you've got the beach..."

I recommend you take a listen to the song here. 

The 2nd song of the day is "Bliss" by John Legend & Teyana Taylor. "Bliss" is from the G.O.O.D. Music compilation, "Cruel Summer". The first thing that comes out of everybody's mouth is "Teyana Taylor can sing????". I said the same thing but she actually holds her own vocally with my favorite singer, John Legend. Its just has that sound that you fall in love with the 1st time you hear it... You can listen to it here.

I've been gone for a while but I'm back with a good story!! My homeboy Sherm is an extreme Miami Heat and LeBron James fan and he decided to bet Leon Rogers and Tony Sco(Of Tony Sco & The Morning Riot on WGCI) that if the Miami Heat lose the NBA Finals, He would wear a Hooters Uniform and parade down Michigan Ave....

Well as you know, the Heat lost to the Dallas Mavericks 4-2

How I'm Viewed...

Me & one of my fellow interns at WGCI, Keaira, were talking & she said she saw a lot in me.. I asked her what she saw and this is what she said:

"Goofy, intelligent, respectable, hard working, love for music, life of the party, the shoulder that one can use to cry on, the manly man but not afraid to show affection when the time is right. Mature..been there done that attitude and not going to let the past determine your future even though your mistakes helped u learn what issues the future will bring.. To me, u have a "I'm not getting any younger" attitude & u ready to tackle life and be the best man in every situation..."

She had me pegged & it made me wonder, "WHY THE FUCK CANT OTHER PPL SEE THIS SHIT?!" Naw seriously, some people just see the exterior of a person. So the next time someone asks you what you see in them, look past what you see & make an attempt to dig deeper because it might just make their day...

Well today the topic is One Night Stands... I'll be the first to admit that at the ripe age of 25, I have never had a one night stand. That being said, I don't see the purpose or accomplishment of having one. I've had sex with a person just one time but I doubt that qualifies. So, uh... ummm yea. Ok.... I'm done...

Ok, I'm very open when it comes to sexual topics because we grown. I used to sleep wit different girls when I was younger. I had a girl from 10/05 to 04/07 but I cheated and have been regretting it ever since. the reason I dont have girl is because I cant find a female that could potentially love me better than she did, I kno thats fucked up but oh well. Some females I talk to I just wanna fuck, some I wanna get to know then fuck. Its hard for me to open up and put all my eggs in one basket cuz if I get burned, im going back to my hoe-ish ways. Ima motivated, smart, funny, outgoing, attractive, driven male but I dont have a car or a crib or money, and without those 3, most of my personality traits dont mean shit. I'm usually stuck in the friend box, so I come off as an asshole so that doesnt happen & until I can find the right female that can fully understand me and potentially give me everything I want in a relationship, Imma keep em at arms length...

My Newfound Love For Nicki Minaj

Ok, I'll be the first to admit that I wasn't the biggest Nicki Minaj fan when she first came out. Of course I'd hit like any normal dude & I'm not jumping on the bandwagon or no shit like that, but I found a new found respect and love for her.. U ever have a dream that felt so real that it changed your outlook on a person??? Well I did, and the main character in my dream was Nicki Minaj.

It was like this: I was in Miami wit my friends and Nicki had a surprise album signing. everybody was rushing her and all on her jock, but I played the background. She saw that I was like the only one not affected by her appearance and called me over and asked me what I thought about her and her music. I told her that her music was good but she could tone down the Pink shit a lil bit. She was surprised by my honesty and when I turned to walk away, she asked me to stay

(This sounds like some "only in a dream" type shit, right?! LOL)

Anyways, after everybody left, we sat and talked for a while. And by the end of the night, we had kissed (Dont judge my dreams!!). After that, we went out a couple times and before I knew it, we were a secret couple. I was the one she talked to when people criticized her and came at her head and shit. I fell in love with Nicki Minaj...

So this weekend, whenever I saw Ms. Minaj on TV, I smiled big as hell!! I know the shit would never happen, but still... HEY, Y'ALL HAVE SOME CRAZY ASS DREAMS TOO!!!

I'm a Flirt.... But a Shy one....

Ok, I can admit that I am a major flirt. Flirting is soooo damn fun to me, especially if somebody is flirting back, it can make for a good time. Eye contact, names like boo & bay make for awesome flirting. I can't explain why I flirt so much. I guess I just like it because u can kinda feel somebody out just by flirting. My problem is that I'm a horrible closer. My bro Raynard can co-sign this shit. Me and a female can be flirting hard and the convo is working and everything and right when its time to get the number and move forward, I freeze up like a lil bitch. I only do that because I'm a big guy and kinda self-conscious and afraid of rejection but I'm working on fixing that. As y'all know, I am an Intern at 107.5 WGCi-FM in Chicago. I have recently graduated from the Illinois Center for Broadcasting. #YEAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!!! Anywho, I'm loving what I'm doing here. I'm learning so much about broadcasting and programming. I love my craft!! On a sadder note, I got denied my 1st radio job but its all good, that means I just gotta work harder and get back at it!! The Big 2-5... Best Birthday Ever!!!!

Its Sunday aka "Day Of Recovery".. My 25th birthday was yesterday & I had a fucking ball!!! Let's recap, shall we?

Friday - Doing my usual intern thing @ WGCI & who walks in?? Big Boi of Outkast!! So I met him, said what up, he cool as hell. Me & my boy Will Worley got put on the list to go to his listening party for his album "Sir Lucius Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty", BTW the album was banging!!! The party was also sponsored by Hennessy: Black. So I definately had my fill.. After that, I went to my buddy Gemini Jones, shindig.. Partied it up, said #Dale like 900 times!! This is what I drank:
-4 Coronas
-7 cups of Hennessy: Black
-2 Long Islands & a pitcher
-a double shot of Don Julio
Oh yea, No Hangover either!!!!

Saturday - BBQ @ my BFF Rissies' house. My bro Raynard hooked the food up. Steaks, Bacon-Wrapped Shrimp, Burgers, Hot Dogs, Chicken, the whole 9!! My sis Tasha made me some fye as brownies!! I spend the whole day wit "Da Fam" & @ the end of the night, my "boo" drove 83 miles roundtrip to see me! I felt sooooo special. I just wanted to share wit yall, how special my 25th birthday was...

Feeling Some Kind Of Way...

See, this is what happens when u leave me in the house on a Saturday night in Chicago in the summer!! I start thinking and shit. My birthday is in a week & I'll be 25 & to some people, that's a young age, to others, I'm old as hell. On the plus side, I have no kids, I don't do drugs, I've never been arrested. On the other side, I have no car, no money & I live wit my grandma. Now before u say "You aint shit" & start judging me, realize that I am in school(graduating in August) & I'm an intern @ the #1 Urban radio station in Chicago(WGCI 107.5, #Dale!!). I feel like I've achieved a lot & overcame hella adversity to get where I am. But I have no one to share it wit, nobody there to climb this ladder wit me. Now I know yall been reading about my "boo" the last couple weeks & we're cool but I wanna make her my girlfriend. She lives a nice distance from me but for the 1st time ever, I'm willing to work it out. she makes me happy & I kno I make her happy. I just want it to work out cuz I'm tired of being solo dolo...

LeBron to Chicago.. My Thoughts..

Well, ever since the Cleveland Cavaliers got bounced out of the playoffs by the Boston Celtics a few weeks ago, everybody & they mama been making their predictions about where LeBron James will end up when the free agency period starts July 1st. Its between Chicago, Cleveland, New Jersey, New York & LA(Clippers). Most analysts feel like he will choose Chicago because we have the strongest roster toward winning a championship & the whole "Michael Jordan played here" factors in as well...

While most Chicagoians want LeBron here & think that he would be good for the city, I think different. Lebron would be a great public figure for the City of Chicago & Chicago Bulls BUT(Yes, there's a But), WE DONT NEED HIM!!!! Yes, he would bring a lot of revenue to the city(estimated 2.7 Billion), he's not a good fit for the team. We have a All-Star point guard in Derrick Rose, why would you take the ball out of his hands?! That's like making Brian Urlacher quarterback when we have Cutler!! The prospective lineup with Lebron would be like this:

PG-Derrick Rose
SG-Kirk Hinrich
SF-LeBron James
PF-Taj Gibson
C-Joakim Noah

Now, that looks a solid lineup & it is BUT it could be soooo much better. Lets say the Bulls left LeBron alone & focused toward Dwyane Wade/Joe Johnson or Chris Bosh/Amar'e Stoudemire.. look @ the lineup:

Now look at that, you just put a solid backup point guard & a rebounding energy machine on the bench, there's 3 All-Stars & 1 potential All-Star in the starting lineup. thats a championship team right there!! Some might say that we dont need Wade either cuz he would take the ball out of D. Rose's hands but I beg to differ. The reason Wade had the ball so much in Miami is because they had nobody else to give the ball to, are you really gonna give the ball to Mario Chalmers?! Aboslutely Not!!! As for LeBron, he's not a great shooter, he is a great athlete. He uses his size and speed to score. He's good at handling the ball because he's too big for guards & too fast for forwards & centers. he IS a freak of nature but he's not for the Chicago Bulls. He would fit well in New Jersey who have up & coming players such as Devin Harris, Brook Lopez, Courtney Lee & Yi Jianlian. NJ also has the #3 pick, a boatload of Cash & A new owner thats not afraid to spend it. The right moves in free agency & the draft could have New Jersey in the playoffs next season.
This is why LeBron should NOT bring his ass to Chicago....

Nice Guys Really Finish Last

I'm a firm believer in the saying "Nice Guys Finish Last" because every time I "think" I found the girl that has everything I'm looking for, it falls apart.. I'm 0 for 3 this year & I aint did shit wrong.

Oh, wow.. someone's actually following my blog. i'm glad I'm not talking to the air anymore lol. We finally got some good weather in the Chi & I'm loving it!! I'm a Summer Baby(June), so I LOVE when my season comes around.

I started my WGCI internship & I can tell that its gonna be a good-ass summer.. #TeamDale!!!

Um, I'm liking the direction I'm goin in wit my new "boo". She's what I'm looking for, so cross your fingers that it works out for ya boy!!! I will express my feelings on the whole "LeBron to Chicago" situation next time, til then...
